Speaker Bio

Sumayya is the CEO of Takaful Insurance of Africa Limited, the first fully fledged Takaful Operator in East and Central Africa.

She is a lawyer, an Eisenhower Fellow and an alumna of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She has received several local and international awards including the Top 40 Under 40, Lifetime Achievement, Best CEO in Kenya and Outstanding Women Leadership Awards.

She Sits on several boards of listed and private companies as well as the not for profit sector including Nation Media Group, Safari Doctors and Islamic Relief Kenya.

A champion for youth and women empowerment, she has initiated various programmes for the economic empowerment of youth and women. She is the Patron of the Muslim Deaf Association of Kenya (an organization which focuses on the empowerment of the deaf and hearing impaired).

She is Hostess of ‘Aspire’ a TV show on leadership and personal development; and is an advisor, keynote speaker and trainer on law, takaful, leadership and governance.
